Care for the Environment
Doing what is right for the environment, including reducing of energy usage and CO2 emissions – is no longer a luxury; it is a necessity. More and more attention is being paid to the waste quantities in the food and packaging industry, whether this waste happens at supplier, retailer or customer level.
About 1.3 billion tons of food products are lost or wasted annually. Loss and wastage occur along all steps in the food supply chain. It is an important part of retailer’s role to do as much as possible to reduce waste in its own operations, but also to facilitate a decrease in food waste at supplier and customer level where possible.
